10 Activities To Do In The Napa Valley, With or Without Wine // Part 1

Where To Stay...

When it comes to the Napa Valley and lodging, the city of Yountville really kills it ! They offer some of the best hotels in the entire valley, all within walking distance to countless Restaurants and Wineries. I work in Yountville at one of those darling wineries called Silver Trident Winery and because of that fact I rarely hang out in Yountville. I mean who wants to go to their work on their day off? Even if you work in adult Disneyland or “Yountvegas” as it commonly referred.

I was delighted when the invite came in to enjoy a peaceful stay at The Napa Valley Lodge. They are located on the north end of Yountville, a few feet away from world class restaurants and wineries! I would describe the lodge as Tuscan / Modern ... they offer a laundry list of great amenities including: a full spa service menu, pool/hot tub, wine reception on the weekends, complimentary cookies in the lobby area, complimentary continental breakfast, fitness center...the rooms are spacious and ours even included a fire place !! It was so wonderful. It happen to be raining that evening, so we cozied up and used the fire place and listened to the rain, it was perfect! The beds were really comfortable and they offer a “pillow menu” for those that need a down pillow vs foam etc. They truly think of everything and the staff is so lovely too! They will do whatever to make your stay enjoyable ! I had forgotten my phone charger and called the front desk, they offered their own personal phone chargers to try and help accommodate me, it was very sweet considering me of all people, needs the charger lol. My hubby normally packs the chargers and just forgot this time, probably since were coming from so close! Either way, such a sweet gesture ! Thank you Napa Valley Lodge for a lovely stay!

Physical Activities...

I was really excited to test this one out for you all! My gal friends and I were invited by Napa Valley Bike Tours to come spend a day learning about what they have to offer, which was really informative and fun!! Our options we’re either a guided tour or if I preferred, a self guided tour ! My girlfriends and I opted for the self guided tour since we know the area. We reserved these all black Electra cruisers with baskets. We set out on our journey to winery number one. If you go on the guided tours, they choose the wineries and you’re typically in a group of 12 or less riders.

Couple Notes:

- $124 per person for a half day tour

- $45 per person to just rent their bikes for half day!

- 10 am to 2:30 pm

- 12 -14 miles total (3-6 miles in between Winery)

- 2 Winery visits

-  Tasting Fees & Lunch are not included - purchase wine and some wineries waive the fees!

- If you do purchase wine, NVBT will drive it back safely for you and have it available upon your return.

We had sooo much fun, I highly recommend going through Napa Valley Bike Tours. My only request, make sure you wear a helmet ! We didn’t and should have ! Bad example! But hey, I know better for next time!

Another GREAT activity that’s specific to Napa! Hot Air Balloons! What’s neat about Napa Valley Aloft is that they are located right in the heart of Yountville! So if you stay at the Napa Valley lodge you don’t have to wake up that early and you can walk the 7 min to the launch site. They also have coffee and pastries from local bakeries - mmm Bouchon Bakery anyone? The cost is $200 per person and they are so organized that if they do have to cancel you call a pre-recorded line with message telling you about the weather, if it’s a go or not and then they call you later to reschedule and they apologized profusely about cancelling (which I’m sure they're used to) but like come on guys, you can’t control the weather - poor ppl! I can only imagine the attitude they probably get! I’m excited to go next weekend if it works out or whenever the weather allows!

Outfit Details// Sweater is Free People // Jeans Encore Denim from Boho Lifestyle // Scarf is from Sister's Boutique Yountville // Sunnies are Prada (vintage) // Purse is LV (My Christmas gift from my hubby - had to go to great lengths to find it, will tell that story later).

For the men and women in your life that are attracted to all things fast and furious, the team at LTF Adventures has you covered! You can make an appointment to go drive your dream car, the one that's on your bucket list to own one day! Especially if your guy or gal doesn't like to drink wine, this is the perfect way to indulge yourself and arrive to your restaurant or spa reservation in style! Check out their site and book one of these awesome cars for your hunny's next birthday!

Last, but certainly not least, if you are looking for ways to continue your Yoga practice while visiting Yountville, they offer some amazing Restorative Yoga classes at the Yountville Community  Center, offered Monday & Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday's from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. an all skill level Vinyasa - make sure to take my girl Beth's classes (Thursday and Sunday). Drop in's welcome! It is a great way to immerse yourself in the local community and find some balance on your vacation!

If you’re staying in Yountville you have to check out the V Marketplace. My favorite boutiques: Sisters Boutique, Tay & Grace and Knickers & Pearls. Walk across the way to new addition Forty Five Ten and you can find some crazy beautiful home decor and investment pieces !

Art Galleries...

If you’re looking to add to your art collection, I recommend Silver Trident for Ralph Lauren Home pieces, Maisonry Gallery, Arena Gallery, Jessup Cellars...

Wine Tasting In Yountville....

I invited some friends to join us who live locally. I made sure to make a couple appointments at wineries (if your a group larger than 5, you almost always need a reservation - keep that in mind). We ended up being almost 12 people total (whoops!) and we all met at Goosecross Cellars which is 2.5 miles from NVBT.

Goosecross is amazing because they make a little bit of everything: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose, Dry Reisling, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah...and I’m probably missing a few ! There outdoor patio is so gorgeous and relaxing, setup against the vineyards, staring down the mayacama mountain range. The sunsets are gorgeous there and the friendly staff and pups running around are the best ! It’s truly a favorite of mine ! We had a great time with our host Rachel, she was knowledgeable and gave us enough info and space to enjoy each others company ! We wrapped up our purchases and headed to Stewart Cellars back in the town of Yountville.

We enjoyed a flight at their chic tasting bar inside the main building shown above, they also have a private room for groups and VIPS ! The space is beautiful and they also have a great variety of wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a Rosè! We were a group of 10 and everyone was spread out either standing or sitting on their ornate wood bench booth seats. The decor is just gorgeous inside and out. Stewart Cellars just re-launched their restaurant on site and teamed up with Southside Napa to open a Yountville location on their property. Only open for lunch and breakfast until 3 pm, It allows for a perfect balance of winery and restaurant. They literally opened a week ago and I’ve been 4 times, the Croque Senorá On Brioche w / chipotle mornay and a friend egg (drool) $14, they also have a slew of really light healthy options, like their protein bowl with charred jalapeño hummus, arugula, poached egg, cucumber and a delicious chickpea salad $12! Other great tasting rooms you should add to your list : Hill Family Estate, Silver Trident, Priest Ranch, JCB, Jessup Cellars, Maisonry, Beau Vigne, Hope & Grace, Chiarello Family Wines and Hestan Vineyards...

I couldn't believe how much fun we had during our day in Yountville. I mean I knew it was fun and people loved visiting, but playing tourist for a day was really enlightening! I am now thoroughly jealous of all visitors and find it hard to not want to be out on a bike, or lounging at the local hotels! lol....woah is me! All in all I think it is important to remember even if you don’t care about Wine, there are SOO many other things you can do in Napa without needing to drink wine !! Thanks for following along, make sure to follow along for Part 2 coming to the blog later this month!
